Acteon shortlisted for three LT Awards 2020, with Boots and Co-op
We’re excited to have been shortlisted in all three categories we entered in this year’s Learning Technology Awards, for projects with our clients Boots and Co-op.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll be adding to our existing collection of 11 awards from previous years, including 8 golds!
Here’s a little bit about what made our entry with Co-op an eye-catching one with the judges…
Bringing to life the deadly boring: Asbestos awareness – “Don’t Touch It!”
With Co-op, we have been shortlisted for ‘Excellence in design of learning content’.
The challenge was to bring to life the simultaneously boring but potentially very harmful issue of what to do if you find asbestos on your site. As we all know, health and safety messages at work can be hard to communicate – they are often viewed as dull, but are critical for protecting people.
We needed something surprising and fun. Something memorable. Something that explained the dangers without alarming people.
So we worked with Co-op to deliver a radically different approach. The crucial thing to remember about asbestos is that it only becomes dangerous once disturbed. That’s when you ‘can’t touch it’. This sparked an idea… We created a rap song that sounded similar to MC Hammer’s eighties hit ‘U Can’t Touch This’.
The video animation to go with the song uses Co-op characters in baggy trousers and baseball caps.
This supports an elearning module with all the key information for staff and managers, using digestible snippets to make information clear and easy to remember.
The results have been fantastic, with a 90% reduction in asbestos-related calls to the helpdesk, and 93% staff rating the training as good, very good or excellent.
