The impact in practice
Here’s how we’ve helped clients solve real business challenges...
1. Driving process change.
The need: Our retail client was introducing a new cash management system across its 3,000+ stores. Technical roll-out was going well, but colleagues were struggling with the new process, and the pilot project was stalling.
“I've been doing this for 30 years -
it's hard to suddenly stop.”
The insight: Acteon’s discovery process revealed that colleagues needed to build a simple new habit for how they handle notes in cash transactions. They needed to unlearn ingrained habits, and be prompted to take a new action (using the cash system) at the right moment.
The solution: We designed a creative campaign of prompts, communication and learning to help store staff use the right actions in that key moment. Using humour and surprise to make the messages memorable, the campaign delivered positive behaviour change and helped colleagues get the new process right.
The impact: Full roll-out ran smoothly and resulted in enhanced security and millions of pounds worth of savings for our client.
2. Promoting positive compliance and conduct.
The need: It’s a classic challenge for Compliance and Ethics teams – how do you engage people with the ‘important but dull’ requirements of compliance and risk? Our client in the TV and film industry was launching a new Code of Conduct to help promote the highest standards of professional behaviour, and they needed to make it work in a dynamic, creative and risk-taking culture.
“Yes, we're risky. But we're not reckless.
And we care what people think.”
The insight: Acteon brought our discovery and design approach to help them translate the Code into simple practical actions that all colleagues can use as part of their everyday work.
The solution: By engaging closely with our clients’ culture and stakeholders, we were able to frame those key actions as simple powerful messages that spoke to the spirit and aspiration of the organisation. We created a sustained campaign, using a range of existing internal communication channels.
The impact: This behaviour-focused approach delivered unprecedented positive engagement, exceeded its specific business targets and won multiple industry awards.
3. Empowering professional development.
The need: A global pharmaceutical company needed to strengthen collaboration and professional development among an international team of expert managers, who were working under in complex roles under significant time pressure.
“Our real power comes from within our community.”
The insight: Using a discovery process based on interviews, surveys and observations, we uncovered opportunities to enhance communication and knowledge sharing.
The solution: We designed an ‘accelerator’ programme - delivered through workshops, calls, and a Teams-based community of practice - to foster stronger connections and support professional growth.
The impact: The response has been outstanding. Managers report improved relationships, better collaboration across regions and increased productivity. And the accelerator continues to gather pace! We're evolving the programme through a continual feedback loop with managers.
4. Promoting inclusion.
The need: Our client asked us to help them increase the number of colleagues completing their diversity data declarations — an important metric for the business, but a task often met with reluctance from colleagues.
“It's not that I don't want to do it -
it's just that I never seem to get round to it.”
The insight: Working through rapid discovery and design stages with their inclusion team, we created a campaign to test what would encourage more people to complete the task. Using a mix of behavioural insight and split testing, we explored what messaging and tactics would make a difference.
The solution: A key idea was introducing a focused “Declaration Day” to create urgency and a shared sense of purpose. The campaign delivered three core elements: explaining why the data matters and how it’s used; timeboxing the task with a clear deadline; and equipping managers with tools to support their teams.
The impact: The result was a 9.2% increase in declarations within 24 hours—nearly double the original target. Declaration Day is a simple repeatable model to underpin future success.
